Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) maker and distributor Avyon was recently granted several Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) exemptions to operate UAVs for commercial flights.

Partnered with Germany-based microdrones GmbH and France-based Delair-Tech, Avyon – which has offices in New York and Quebec – provides customized drone solutions for its North American clients.

The FAA Section 333 exemptions were given for the following UAVs:

  • Delair-Tech’s DT18, a lightweight, fixed-wing UAV capable of long range and long flight time;
  • microdrones’ md4-200, a small, vertical takeoff and landing aircraft; and
  • microdrones’ md4-1000, the more robust and heavier model of the Md4 fleet.

“We are happy to expand our expertise into the U.S. We have several years of experience flying in Canada, and being able to offer our products to U.S. market is a strategic development for us,” says Vivien Heriard Dubreuil, CEO of Avyon.
