The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) has appointed Brian Wynne the new president and CEO.
Wynne is currently president of the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA), a post he has held since April 2004. Previously, he held a senior leadership role at the Intelligent Transportation Society of America and was CEO of the Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility.
Wynne will succeed Michael Toscano, who is retiring on Jan. 12, 2015. Toscano has headed the organization since 2008 after having spent more than 30 years with the Department of Defense.
‘I am excited to be joining AUVSI at this pivotal time for the unmanned systems and robotics industry,’ Wynne says. ‘From unmanned aircraft to ground robots to maritime systems to automated vehicles, this industry will continue to revolutionize our daily lives. I'm happy to play a leading role by taking the reins of this organization, which for more than four decades has worked to advance and promote these technologies.’
AUVSI represents more than 7,500 members from 60-plus allied countries involved in the fields of government, industry and academia. AUVSI members work in the defense, civil and commercial markets.
