As a way to help search for missing persons or those who have wandered from their homes, the Dallas County, Ala., Sheriff’s Department has been given an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) from Alzheimer’s Outreach Group LLC (AOG) of Selma, Ala.

According to an article from The Selma-Times Journal, the DJI Inspire drone, equipped with an infrared camera, was donated to the department as part of AOG’s project that aims to bring UAS to Alabama police departments for search-and-rescue purposes.

After the drone was donated on Monday, the Alabama Association of Resource Conservation and Development reportedly gave a $10,000 grant to AOG to help further its initiative.
